MSX Synth

Just came across software called MSX Synth – it’s not specifically for the CX5M but you can use it to play around with the internal Yamaha sound chip: http://paxangasoft.retroinvaders.com/msxsynth.htm

It’s very nice to see how Paxanga has used the graphic possibilities of the MSX1 to make an advanced interface for the PSG sound chip. You can see a video here how it works:

Paxanga soft claims it’s still in development but I think it’s worth a try already.

CX5M.com = CX5M.net

After numerous futile attempts to let me bid $$$ for the CX5M.com website the domainbroker gave up and released it to public again.

So… I registered it via the normal procedures and as of now CX5M.com will redirect you to CX5M.net

SiON FM Engine

Amazing that I haven’t come across this MML player before: http://mmltalks.appspot.com/
I used to program songs in MML on the MSX (the Music Macro cartridge YRM-104 also makes use of this syntax).
The MML Player is based on Flash’ SiON engine which actually is able to emulate all the CX5M’s soundchips: https://sites.google.com/site/sioncenter/example

just sayin’….

Today’s FM Bassline: What is Love

This is getting awkward, but I can’t deprive you of Haddaway’s popular song back in ’93. Apart from the FM Bass I also seem to recognize a ‘wild organ’ sound from a Roland U20. Be warned there are more like this to come.
