BlueMSX

SFG05I’ve been out of the Windows system for a while but remember the BlueMSX emulator. For me that was the best functioning MSX emulator around and I bet it still is.

I donated a CX5M-I to Daniel Vik at that time, asking him if he would be willing to make special effort on emulating the CX5M specifics in return.

Well about a month later I was able to testrun the CX5M software on my PC. Great work! So if you want to test out some ROMs and have a PC – you can try and load them into the BlueMSX emulator

Native Instruments FM8

fm8I’m always impressed with the Native Instrument software synths. The first FM synth (FM7 is reviewed here) was already great, designed like the DX7, able to load presets and extended with filters and effects.

Anyway, the FM8 has dropped the Yamaha’s DX-series feel and has become an unique next-level FM-synth at itself. Check it out here:

The price, well about $250,- you could buy a few genuine CX5M’s for that, you decide 😉

PX7 FM synth on Reason 6

px7So new FM synthesizers are popping up for different platforms now and then and for those who have the new Propellerheads Reason 6 with rack extensions there is good news: the PX7 FM Synthesizer (EU 79,-) came out

It’s a 6 operator FM synth so this rack extension can also load DX7 patches, you can drop your MIDI system exclusive dump at this page and get cracking!

Reboot?

Hi all,

You’ve probably noticed things were wrong in an earlier stage than I did… I did a bunch of domain migrations and the cx5m.net expiration has slipped the books…

Sorry about that. But now it’s back! And, looking on the bright side; the old CX5M.net was based on a self-made html template I made back in the year 2000 or something. Based on a pricey windows server with active server pages etc.. etc…

In the meantime lots has changed on the internet. I was playing around with the idea of migrating the cx5m.net pages to a WordPress installation for a very long time but just didn’t get around to it.

This ‘glitch’ is the perfect excuse to get that going so that’s what is happening at the moment. I’ll also incorporate some forum plugin (probably bbpress)  so you cx5m fans can discuss FM-stuff overthere.

stay tuned…
