This looks very promising: Not sure what the dirty lo-fi engine means but this app has some very nice features which could make this FM-synth the most useful FM-App on the iPad.

I used to program songs in MML on the MSX (the Music Macro cartridge YRM-104 also makes use of this syntax).

Wow, this is great… I had the iPad/iPhone app DXi to emulate FM synthesis but it seems TakTech have also managed to work the FM synthesis in HTML5! Take a look

So as I mentioned earlier I was not really using Windows system for a while now. But recently I came to search for a decent MSX emulator on OSX – which was a bit harder than I thought.
Then I stumbled upon CocoaMSX which is an emulator matching up to Window’s BlueMSX in terms of user-friendly emulation. It’s pretty decent! A bit of a shame that after switching into the full-screen modus it presented that OSX-patterned background, preventing me from going back to ye olde gaming days but hey… CocoaMSX is as of now my absolute favourite OSX MSX emulator!
Native Instruments FM8
I’m always impressed with the Native Instrument software synths. The first FM synth (FM7 is reviewed here) was already great, designed like the DX7, able to load presets and extended with filters and effects.
Anyway, the FM8 has dropped the Yamaha’s DX-series feel and has become an unique next-level FM-synth at itself. Check it out here:
